There are a variety of causes including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Structural deformities<\/li>\n<li>Fluid in the middle ear<\/li>\n<li>Ear infection<\/li>\n<li>Allergies<\/li>\n<li>Impacted earwax<\/li>\n<li>Perforated eardrum<\/li>\n<li>Foreign objects in the ear<\/li>\n<li>Otosclerosis<\/li>\n<li>Benign tumors.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This type of hearing loss is usually able to be treated with surgery or medication.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.asha.org\/public\/hearing\/Sensorineural-Hearing-Loss\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sensorineural Hearing Loss<\/a>.\u00a0<\/strong>Sensorineural hearing loss, also called nerve deafness, involves problems with the inner ear. Causes include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Aging<\/li>\n<li>Noise exposure<\/li>\n<li>Trauma<\/li>\n<li>Viruses<\/li>\n<li>Autoimmune disorders<\/li>\n<li>Otosclerosis<\/li>\n<li>Meniere\u2019s disease<\/li>\n<li>Malformations of the inner ear and tumors.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Hearing aids are the most common treatment recommended for this type of hearing loss.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.asha.org\/public\/hearing\/Mixed-Hearing-Loss\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mixed Hearing Loss<\/a>.<\/strong> This is a combination of both conductive and sensorineural hearing loss.
